About Dr. Snell

Brian E. Snell, MD, FAANS was a double major in violin performance and chemistry at Butler University/Jordan College of Fine Arts. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry cum laude with highest honors from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana in 1994. He attended Indiana University School of Medicine and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine with Honors Designation in Surgery in 1998. Dr. Snell completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1999. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 2004.

Dr. Snell completed a complex spinal surgery fellowship at The Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Neurosurgery, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2005.

Dr. Snell was a member of Tyler Neurosurgical Associates, P.A., in Tyler, Texas, from 2005 to 2008. He has extensive experience in the treatment of cranial and spinal trauma and tumors. He was an active member of the deep brain stimulation and craniospinal radiosurgery programs.

Dr. Snell established practice with Neuroscience Specialists in 2008 where he specializes in complex spine surgery. He has an interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery. Licensed by the State of Oklahoma, Dr. Snell is Board-Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He holds membership in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and North American Spine Society.

Dr. Snell has contributed peer-reviewed research to Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Clinical Neurosurgery, Spine, Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Contemporary Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery Clinics of North America, Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism, Brain Injury Source, and Microchemical Journal. He has written four book chapters, given more than twenty oral presentations nationally, and given numerous poster presentations including winning 1st place in the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meeting Poster Competition in San Diego, CA in 2001.

Currently, Dr. Snell's primary focus is on patient-centered care with a heavy emphasis on patient education (to facilitate patient understanding to give agency in decision making), accurate diagnosis, and technical execution of surgical interventions at the highest level to pursue the best outcomes.

His beautiful wife, Elena, and daughter, Olivia, are the great loves of his life. They have supported him in all things, and have been the best models of love, kindness, strength, loyalty, and faithfulness he has ever known. He continues to have a deep appreciation and passion for violin and instrumental classical music in all its forms (solo, chamber, orchestral). He enjoys all things science and technology.
