About Dr. Cox

J. Bridger Cox, M.D. is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Neuroscience Specialists with a subspecialty focus in complex spine surgery and minimally invasive treatments. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Oklahoma — where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and was recognized as a National Merit Scholar and Phi Beta Kappa honoree — he completed his M.D. at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center before pursuing advanced training at the University of Florida College of Medicine. There he completed a fellowship in Complex Adult Spinal Surgery (2010–2011), a neurosurgery residency (2008–2012), and served as chief resident (2012–2013). He subsequently held a clinical lecturer position at UF Health Neurosurgery at Orlando Health before joining Neuroscience Specialists in 2014.

Dr. Cox is the recipient of the 2012 AANS/CNS Spine Section Mayfield Clinical Science Award for his research on venous thromboembolism prevention after spine surgery. His clinical interests center on complex spinal reconstruction, minimally invasive spine surgery, and lumbar fusion. He is a member of AOSpine North America and the Southern Neurosurgical Society.
